Let's talk (skin) deep, but DEEPER- My new skincare I'm loving!

Updated: Jul 28, 2020

Alright beautiful people, it’s time I fill you in on the skincare I recently invested in, (and yes you heard right- investment, because skincare should be one!) I guess I should start from the beginning.

To be completely honest, I've never had a holy grail “skin regime”. In fact, the closest I’ve gotten to one was the Deep Clean line of Neutrogena and a travel size set of Bioclarity. Not that that's a bad thing, but it definitely wasn’t giving me the love and attention my skin deserves, and for that matter NEEDS. Skincare was secondary to me in college, and to be honest it showed. By the end of my second year in school, I was experiencing skin problems that were completely foreign to me. What once were harmless breakouts, had turned into painful, stubborn acne around my mouth and chin (yeah, yeah, the hormonal kind of breakouts-just wait). The same year I noticed even stranger things going on with my skin. Hyperpigmentation. I remember putting my makeup on one day and noticing dark brown patches protruding from the corners of my eyes. I kid you not, I thought it was the result of a late night out and lack of sleep. WRONG. This was just the beginning of symptoms that would lead me to realize I had a hormonal imbalance. A story for another time. What started as darkened skin in the corner of my eyes turned into discolored skin with a span reaching from one side of my eye to another.

I later found out that this skin condition is called Melasma. A form of hyper-pigmentation that is led on by hormone changes and imbalance, which goes to show how wacked out my body was. My roomies at the time can vouch that I incorporated every food, natural herb, supplement, tea concoction, literally anything I could get my hands on to balance these messed up hormones of mine. But, I have had no luck. It actually has gotten worse than it was then, and that was three years ago. My only option for treatment is to bleach my skin where there is hyperpigmentation, and I really don’t want to resort to that if I don’t have to. I’m going to stop here, because I could literally share so much information on this topic. If you have any questions please slide into my DM’s on the social or message me on here! Let’s talk about all the crap that no one ever talks about and get real with each other. Social media makes it so easy to slap on a filter, which hey I’m not complaining sometimes you have to pop off, but KNOW that struggling with skin problems is NORMAL.

But they don't have to be.

I recently came across a skincare line that showed me with natural, vegan, and clean ingredients these skin problems CAN go away. I’m about three weeks into using these new products and I’m IN LOVE. My skin is already brighter, smoother, and more even. I am so excited to see the amazing changes these products make to my skin. I am even more excited to keep you guys updated on this skin journey of mine!

So what are these magic products you may ask? Modern Nature, more commonly known as Monat- and let me tell you they are a game changer. I had three goals when looking for a skincare line: hydration, brightening (to combat my hyperpigmentation), and anti aging properties (trust me you're never too young to start). Having clear skin has always been a must, but simply using these clean and vegan products have done the trick in that department ( and it's only been THREE weeks).

Check out my Hair & Skin page to see a full list of all the products I'm using and what they do! Again, connect with me if you have questions about my skin journey or these products. My email can be found below and my Instagram is always linked there too.

Can't wait to hear from you.

XOXO,

Samantha
